Inaudible voices

Inaudible voices lead preacher to tv.

An inaudible voice. Aurally it's something that you can't hear, but I have been trying to find the source of an inaudible voice that speaks during the night. I have been able to avoid the voice by wearing earplugs. Happily, I have had some very peaceful sleep.

Now in researching this, I came across an article from the September 15, 1979 milwaukee sentinel that talks about someone who has literally had inaudible voices speaking to him at night.

The preacher's name is Pat Robertson. As a result he gave up everything he had and started broadcasting on tv because of a voice that was speaking IN HIS HEAD.

You mention that to some christians and they will come to the same conclusion: Demonic Possession.

So, how do you know? Is Robinson a man who was told by the devil to start a TV ministry? Or is God speaking to him?

So at what point does the voice in our head that's talking on its own go from God to devil? Probably when it's more self serving than informative.

It's at this point that I should say that the only way to know for sure is to know one's own thoughts. A tremendously difficult process, which requires you to consciously listen to every thought you have regardless of whether you want to have it or not. By paying attention to every thought, you should be able at some point (after many, many hours) to determine whether a thought comes from you or an external source. This can only be done by constant monitoring and observation. (I call it sin watching, but you can call it whatever you want)

Once you establish the existence of the external thought, you must attempt to converse with it. Understand what it is, why it is, what it wants and why it gave you that thought.

I could understand if someone thinks this is some extension of demonic possession in listening and conversing with a voice that speaks in your head, but until you find a way to isolate the thoughts and confront them then you literally are a slave to them. On the other hand, to say that any voice that isn't yours is satanic, you would then have to say that Pat Robertson's ministry was driven by the devil's hand. I know some people would probably agree with that as well.

To me it's one more example of not seeing the forest because there's too many trees around. We're just hung up on semantics, because we over think the whole thing.

Take Robertson for what he is though, he's successful. All because of an inaudible voice. A voice that he says is from God.
